Advances in RFID Technology for IoT Food Shelf-Life Monitoring Smart Packaging

Food packaging is usually used to package, store, transport and preserve commercial food. With the arrival of the intelligent era, the function of food packaging has long ceased to be limited to packaging functions, such as carrying the date of food processing, food expiration date, bar codes and other information. Combined with the Internet of Things intelligent packaging to add tracking, traceability, monitoring and other new functions, is a new trend in the development of the food packaging industry. IoT is the "Internet of Things", through sensors, radio frequency identification technology (RFID), infrared sensing, global positioning systems, laser scanners and other intelligent sensing devices or technologies [3], connecting people, processes and machines, thus enhancing the industry's ability to achieve better performance of packaging in the entire process. Smart packaging connected to the network can enable fast remote access to devices and establish new business models. Due to the short shelf life of fresh food, it needs to be monitored for shelf life to ensure the quality and safety of the food, smart sensors and indicators help in monitoring, detecting, sensing, tracking, and recording packaged food, and understanding the changes inside or outside the food through various communication signals, so more and more sensor development is focusing on smart packaging monitoring of food.

Most of the smart packaging involves the incorporation of indicators or sensors into the conventional packaging to detect, track and trace the packages and continuously output signals through the physical or chemical properties fed back by the detection devices. The difference between a sensor and an indicator lies mainly in the composition, with the sensor consisting of a receptor and a transducer, while the indicator is relatively simple in principle, conveying information through directly visible changes in the situation.

IoT technology is becoming more and more widespread in the application of intelligent packaging, RFID technology can be automatically identified without contact, and the technology is widely used in the production, storage and transportation process. nfc tags are often embedded in packaging, consumers can check the authenticity of the items through mobile phones. The development of intelligent packaging is inseparable from big data technology, through data projection and analysis, you can get more intelligent packaging form.

Producers can monitor the entire process of commodity circulation through the QR code (with commodity information) on the commodity packaging. In the application process, the role of the sensor sensitive element is to feel the environmental conditions of the item, and the role of the conversion element is to convert the electrical

The role of the conversion element is to convert electrical signals into computer language - data signals, which can be analysed by the user to determine whether the food in the package is ripe or corrupt, etc. Embedding the above several information recognition technologies into intelligent packaging is not only conducive to information sharing, but also allows real-time monitoring of the status of the packaged items and timely adjustment of transport or storage conditions, thus better monitoring of food

The paper presents the results of the study on the shelf-life of food products.
